Early Life and EducationGodfrey Gao was born on September 22, 1984, in Taipei, Taiwan. His mother is Malaysian, while his father is Taiwanese. At the age of nine, Gao moved with his family to Vancouver, Canada. He completed his secondary education at Argyle Secondary School in Vancouver and subsequently attended Capilano University.
Modeling Career
In 2004, Gao returned to Taiwan to pursue a modeling career. By 2011, he had become the face of Louis Vuitton. He has graced the covers of numerous magazines, including Vogue, Esquire, Men's Health, Elle Men, Men's Folio, and H.E.H. In March 2013, he appeared on the cover of GQ's Taiwanese edition.
Acting Debut and Acclaim
Gao made his acting debut in 2006. In 2013, he rose to international attention with his casting as Magnus Bane in the film "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." His performance earned critical acclaim and landed him a nomination for "Best Actor" at the Back in the Box awards in 2016.
