Croatian Violinist: Božo Končar
Early Life and EducationBožo Končar, a renowned Croatian violinist, graduated from the Zagreb Music Academy under the tutelage of Josip Klima. His educational journey continued with internships at prestigious institutions, including the Moscow Conservatory with Leonid Kogan (1978), the Royal Academy of Music in London with Yfrah Neaman, the Bern Conservatory with Max Rostal, and the Geneva Conservatory with Henryk Szeryng.
Competition Successes
Končar's talent was recognized early on when he received the award at the Václav Huml Memorial Festival in Zagreb in 1976, later transformed into the prestigious international violin competition. His accolades continued with the "Musical Life" magazine award in Moscow in 1980 and the First Prize at the Bratislava International Violin Competition in 1984.
Zagreb Quartet: Artistic Leadership
From 1987 onwards, Božo Končar became the first violinist and leader of the Zagreb Quartet. Under his guidance, the quartet has gained international acclaim for its exceptional musicianship and innovative interpretations.
