Early Life and EducationGottfried Ozan was born in 1777 and studied at renowned universities in Berlin, Jena, Erfurt, and Erlangen. He obtained a thorough education in chemistry and physics.
Academic Career
Ozan began his academic career as a private lecturer in physics at the University of Erlangen. He later transitioned to chemistry and physics, holding similar positions at the University of Jena. In 1822, he was appointed Professor of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Dorpat. Finally, in 1834, he became Professor of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Würzburg, where he remained until his retirement.
Scientific Contributions
During his tenure at the University of Dorpat, Ozan made significant contributions to the field of chemistry. He conducted extensive research on platinum ores and the phenomenon of phosphorescence, publishing numerous papers on his findings.
