Early Life and Career

Graham Le Saux was born on October 29, 1968, in Jersey, a British island off the coast of France. His parents were French, and he grew up speaking both French and English. Le Saux began playing football at a young age, and joined his local club, St. Paul's, when he was 10 years old. He spent several years developing his skills with the club before catching the attention of Chelsea's chief scout, John Hollins, in 1987.

Chelsea (First Spell)

Le Saux was invited to join Chelsea's youth team in 1987. He spent two years playing for the youth team before being promoted to the first team by Bobby Campbell in 1989. Le Saux quickly established himself as a regular in the team, playing as a left-back. However, he began to lose his place in the team after Ian Porterfield took over as manager in 1991.

Blackburn Rovers

In March 1993, Le Saux was sold to Blackburn Rovers for £700,000. In his first season at Blackburn, he helped the team finish second in the league. The following season, Le Saux missed most of the campaign due to injury, but Blackburn went on to win the Premier League title.

Chelsea (Second Spell)

In 1997, Chelsea bought Le Saux back from Blackburn for £5 million. He was still plagued by injuries, but he enjoyed a successful second spell at Chelsea. He played in the FA Cup final in 2002, and was part of the team that won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1998.

Southampton

In 2003, Le Saux was traded to Southampton in exchange for Wayne Bridge. He spent two seasons with Southampton before retiring from football at the end of the 2004-05 season.

England National Team

Le Saux made his debut for the England national team in 1994. He played 36 times for England, and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1996 European Championship. Le Saux also played in the 1998 World Cup in France.

Personal Life

Le Saux is married and has three children. He is a supporter of several charities, including the Terrence Higgins Trust and the Stonewall Group. Le Saux is an outspoken advocate for gay rights, and has campaigned against homophobia in football.
