Early Life and Education
Grant Devine was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1967. He furthered his education with a Master of Science from the University of Alberta in 1969, an MBA from the same university in 1970, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture from Ohio State University in 1976.
Academic Career
Before entering politics, Devine worked as a farmer, teacher, and agricultural specialist. In the 1970s, he taught at the University of Saskatchewan.
Political Career
Premier of Saskatchewan (1982-1991)On May 8, 1982, Grant Devine was elected Premier of Saskatchewan. He served in this role until November 1, 1991. During his tenure, he oversaw significant economic and political changes in the province.
