Grigory Gorban: A Dedicated Steelworker and Leader
Grigory Gorban, a legendary steelworker at the renowned Azovstal plant, emerged as a symbol of Soviet industry and dedication.
Early Life and Work
Born on April 1, 1932, into a beekeeping family, Gorban's humble beginnings led him to a life of extraordinary achievement. After completing vocational training, he joined Azovstal in 1949 and quickly rose through the ranks.
Political and Industrial Ascendancy
Gorban became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1959 and went on to graduate from the Zhdanov Metallurgical Technical School in 1960. As an assistant steelworker, he honed his skills and became a key player in the plant's operations.
In 1962, Gorban was promoted to steelworker in the Azovstal's open-hearth furnace shop. His exceptional performance earned him the position of бригадир the following year.
Leadership and Honors
Gorban's commitment and leadership qualities were recognized when he was elected to the Central Committee of the CPSU from 1971 to 1986. He also served as a delegate to the 24th and 25th CPSU Congresses.
In 1975, Gorban graduated from the Higher Party School of the CPSU, further solidifying his political credentials.
