Guglielmo Cadore: The Italian Symbolist Master

Born into a prestigious family of Venetian artists, Guglielmo Cadore emerged as a prominent figure in the Italian art scene.

Early Life and Education

Cadore was the eleventh son in a long line of painters. He honed his craft under the tutelage of renowned artist Cesare Lorenti. Despite the allure of Futurism, an avant-garde movement led by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Cadore remained steadfast in his commitment to Symbolism.

Artistic Career

In 1915, Cadore's first major exhibition in Rome showcased his evocative and enigmatic works. However, he later renounced Symbolism, embracing a more naturalistic style.

Exhibitions and Recognition

Cadore's art gained international acclaim through a series of exhibitions:

- 1923: Milan

- 1924: Amsterdam and Rotterdam
- 1925: New York
- 1930: Brussels
Venetian Biennale and Teaching

Cadore participated in the prestigious Venice Biennale in 1934, 1938, and 1942. In 1928, he became a teacher at the Academy of Venice, assuming the position of Chair of Painting in 1936.
