Gülcin Hatıhan was born in Istanbul, Turkey on December 21, 1972. From a young age, her artistic and outgoing nature hinted at a future in the arts. She enrolled in the Müjdat Gezen Arts Center, where she developed an interest in directing. After graduating, Gülcin moved to New York City and spent the next decade in the theater world. A personal trauma inspired her to leave Turkey and experience life abroad, which she likened to "earning a PhD in survival."

Career in Film and Television

Gülcin's acting career took off in the early 1990s, with minor roles in Turkish television series. She moved to the United States in 1999, but her breakthrough came after she returned to Turkey after a 10-year absence. Audiences remember her most significantly for her performances in hit series such as "Poyraz Karayel," "Çukur," and "The Bride of Istanbul."
