Early Life and Club Career

Icelandic footballer Heidar Geir Marvin Helguson is known for his impressive performances as a striker. His journey began with Icelandic club Vestmannaeyjar, where he honed his skills before embarking on an international career.

Transfer to Halmstad and Success in Sweden

In August 2004, Helguson made a pivotal move to Swedish club Halmstad. He made his debut on September 14th against Malmö FF and scored his first goal on December 2nd against Odense in the Royal League. Helguson became a fan favorite, winning the Allsvenskan Golden Boot in 2005 with 16 goals. He also contributed two goals against Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Cup.

German and Norwegian Stint

In 2006, Helguson signed a three-year contract with Hannover 96 in Germany. However, he struggled to break into the starting lineup and was loaned to Norwegian club Vålerenga in August 2007. His 10-month spell in Norway was marked by consistent performances.

Danish and English Sojourn

In June 2008, Helguson joined Danish club Esbjerg. Despite his efforts, he failed to establish himself as a regular player. In December 2009, Esbjerg loaned him to English club Reading until June 3rd, 2010. He later went on trial with Charlton Athletic but was not offered a contract. Esbjerg subsequently sent him on loan to Norwegian club Fredrikstad until the end of 2010.

International Career

Helguson made his international debut for Iceland on March 30th, 2005, against Italy. He scored important goals in qualifying matches for the 2006 World Cup against Malta and the 2008 Euros against Northern Ireland.
