Professional Bodybuilder

Gunter Schlierkamp began bodybuilding at the age of sixteen, drawing inspiration from the pages of bodybuilding magazines. At the same time, he studied to become a mechanic, unconsciously following in the footsteps of his idol, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The powerful muscles of famous movie heroes were the cherished dream of every young boy. However, as time passed and adult responsibilities took over, many people forget their childhood fantasies. But Gunter Schlierkamp was a rare exception, holding onto his dream as the years went by.

Childhood Dream

As a teenager, Gunter, a blond giant from Germany, worshipped Conan, brilliantly portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Today, at the age of 28, Gunter "clanks" with 145 kg of pure muscle, a physique that even the great Arnold himself would envy. Gunter's bodybuilding journey began at the age of sixteen, finding inspiration in the pages of bodybuilding magazines. At the same time, he pursued a career as a mechanic, unknowingly imitating his idol, Schwarzenegger. Gunter's father did not support his son's athletic pursuits, considering weightlifting a waste of time. Furthermore, among his peers, Gunter stood out as a rarity, as weightlifting was not a popular activity in Germany. However, none of these obstacles deterred Schlierkamp. He diligently studied the training methods of champions, particularly admiring the back of eight-time Mr. Olympia, Lee Haney. Gunter states, "He won the major title in bodybuilding more times than anyone else. I copied his training down to the smallest detail. But it doesn't compare to what I learned from Schwarzenegger - the drive, fanaticism, and dedication to bodybuilding."

Early Successes

Soon, Gunter's dedication to his hobby began to bear fruit. In 1990, he became the first champion in the German Youth Championship and a few weeks later, he won the European Championship among juniors. After taking a year off, he triumphed in the "adult" versions of these tournaments. Finally, in 1993, he concluded the amateur stage of his career on a high note by winning the gold medal at the World Championship. After earning his professional card, Gunter moved to the United States. However, he didn't settle in the beloved "muscle beach" of Venice, California, but rather in New York. This unconventional geographic choice was influenced by six-time Mr. Olympia, Dorian Yates, who strongly advised the newcomer against diving into the "quicksand" of Californian bodybuilding.

Current Career

At present, Gunter Schlierkamp is the most prominent representative of German bodybuilding. Although he has not achieved high rankings in professional tournaments, he compensates through appearance fees, guest posing, and participation in advertising campaigns. Despite pessimistic views suggesting that the era of giants in modern bodybuilding has passed since Yates, Schlierkamp confidently marches towards his own stardom. Gunter is young, promising, and possesses a remarkable personal charisma - qualities that he has learned from his idol, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Competitors, beware! It won't be long before Schlierkamp fully demonstrates his strength and power.
