In 1969, Kleinert became a professor at Freie Universität Berlin. Throughout his esteemed career, he has held visiting professorships at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (Geneva) and several American universities, including Berkeley, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Santa Cruz, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Collaboration with Richard Feynman
