Hans von Aachen (1552, Cologne - March 4, 1615, Prague) was a German painter. He is considered a typical representative of Mannerism, and his brushes primarily depicted allegorical, mythological, and religious motifs. Hans von Aachen was born in 1552 in the German city of Cologne. He represented the art movement known as Mannerism. His main works were characterized by religious and mythological styles. When the artist was 22 years old, he decided to travel to Italy, where he studied under Gaspar Rem. Hans experienced his artistic peak during the Rudolfine Prague era in 1596. After the death of Rudolf II, Aachen became an artist at the court of Emperor Matthias. The artist preferred light forms and vibrant colors, which are characteristic of the 16th-century Venetian style. His mannerism in painting gained widespread popularity in Central Europe, particularly through his works and engravings created by him.
