Early Life and Career

Reuben "Tex" Rickardwas a legendary Canadian ice hockey player who carved a name for himself as a defenseman in the early days of the National Hockey League (NHL).

NHL Career

Rickard began his NHL career with the Toronto Arenas in 1917. He also played for the Ottawa Senators, Toronto St. Patricks, and Montreal Canadiens during his six seasons in the league. In total, Rickard appeared in 128 regular season games, registering an impressive stat line of 88 goals, 51 assists, and 139 points. Additionally, he accumulated 195 penalty minutes.

Stanley Cup Success

Rickard's NHL experience was not limited to the regular season. He also played a crucial role in two Stanley Cup victories. In 1918, he helped the Toronto Arenas hoist the coveted trophy, and he repeated the feat with the Toronto St. Patricks in 1922.

Later Career and Legacy

Following his NHL retirement, Rickard continued to play hockey and eventually became a referee. His contributions to the game of hockey earned him a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1947. Rickard's name is forever etched in the annals of hockey history as one of the pioneers of the sport and a key figure in the early development of the NHL.
