Harold Perrineau Jr. is an American television actor, best known for his role as Michael Dawson in the American television series "Lost". He was born in Brooklyn, New York.

Early Life and Career
According to official documents, Perrineau was registered as Harold Perrino, his mother's maiden name. However, his parents changed his last name to "Williams" when he was seven years old. Perrineau later changed his last name back when he discovered that there was already another Harold Williams in the actors' union.

Perrineau attended Shenandoah University but did not graduate. In 1989, he was part of Tyrone Jackson's original group during the world premiere of the hit movie "Fame" at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Acting Roles and Achievements
Perrineau's breakthrough role came in the television series "Lost", where he portrayed the character Michael Dawson. He was temporarily written out of the show at the end of the second season when his character left the island with his son. However, he returned in the fourth season and his character was ultimately killed off.
In addition to "Lost", Perrineau has also appeared in other notable roles. He played Link in the "Matrix" films and video games, Augustus Hill in the American television series "Oz", and Mercutio in Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of "Romeo + Juliet".
Currently, Perrineau is actively involved in the comedy-drama television series "The Unusuals", where he portrays the character Leo Banks, a detective in the homicide department.
Personal Life
Perrineau is married to Brittany Perrineau, and they have two daughters together. Their first daughter, Aurora Robinson Perrineau, was born prior to their second daughter, Winter Aria, who was born on May 7, 2008.
Perrineau added the suffix "Jr." to his name when he legally changed his last name back as an adult. However, in most posters, listings, and official documents, this suffix is usually omitted.
