Biography of Henri La Fontaine
Henri La Fontaine (1854–1943) was a Belgian lawyer and politician. He was born on April 22, 1854, in Brussels. La Fontaine studied law at the University of Brussels and later became a professor of international law at the same university.
Struggle for Peace
The main focus of La Fontaine's life was the fight for peace, and his tireless efforts in this direction earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1913. He chaired over 20 international congresses on peace issues and was elected as the President of the International Peace Bureau in Brussels in 1907. La Fontaine also represented Belgium at the League of Nations Assembly in 1920.
