Early Life and Education
Karel Kadlec was born and raised in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. He attended the grammar school there before pursuing law studies at Charles University in Prague.
Career as a Legal Scholar
Assistant at the National TheatreIn 1890, Kadlec became the assistant secretary of the National Theatre in Prague. During his tenure, he developed a keen interest in copyright law. His first publication, "Application of Law to Dramatic and Musical Works," was published in 1892.
Professor of Slavic Law
Kadlec joined the faculty of Charles University in Prague in 1890. He held the positions of associate professor and professor of Slavic law. In 1911, he was appointed dean of the Faculty of Law, a position he held until 1927.
Contributions to Slavic Law
Kadlec became a renowned scholar of Slavic law. His most notable works in this field include:
