German Scientist in Animal Husbandry and Agriculture

After graduating from high school, he spent about 10 years in practical agriculture. He then attended the Hohenheim Agricultural Academy and the University of Berlin. He was elected manager of the academic estate and lecturer in agriculture at the Proskau Academy.

Head of Proskau Academy

Following five years (1858-1863) of managing the newly opened Agricultural Academy in Waldau near Königsberg, he became the director of the Proskau Academy.

Professor in Berlin

From 1881 onwards, he served as a professor at the Berlin Higher Agricultural School.
