Hjalmar Branting and the Swedish Socialist Party

Hjalmar Branting was a Swedish socialist and a founding member of the Swedish Social Democratic Party. He was known for his revolutionary views, which aligned closely with anarcho-syndicalism. Branting was critical of the party's parliamentary ambitions and advocated for more radical methods.

Hjalmar Höglund and the Russian Revolutionaries

In 1906, Hjalmar Höglund, another prominent Swedish socialist, provided refuge to several Russian revolutionaries at his villa. These revolutionaries had participated in the robbery of the State Bank in Helsinki. Höglund's support for these revolutionaries led to his expulsion from the Social Democratic Party in 1908 by its leader, Karl Branting.

Hjalmar Höglund and Free Love

Höglund was also an early advocate of free love. In 1910, he gave a speech entitled "Love Without Children," in which he defended the legalization of contraception in Sweden. For this, he was briefly imprisoned under the newly enacted Höglund Law, which prohibited the promotion of contraception.

Hjalmar Höglund and the Communist Party

In 1921, Höglund joined the Communist Party of Sweden. He participated in the 3rd Congress of the Comintern in Moscow, where he represented Sweden alongside Zet Höglund and Fredrik Ström. Throughout his life, Höglund remained committed to revolutionary ideals and played a significant role in the development of socialism in Sweden.
