Early Life and Education

Gordon Jacob Keller(born 1912) is an American composer and music educator. He graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 1938, where he studied under renowned composer Howard Hanson.

Teaching Career

Keller began his teaching career at the University of Michigan. In 1958, he joined the faculty of the University of Oregon, where he taught until 1976. Keller's notable students include Leslie Bassett, Stephen Scott, and Ralph Towner.

Compositions

Keller's compositions include three symphonies, choral works (including the 1948 "Magnificat" for chorus and orchestra), piano sonata and sonatinas, and sonatas for viola, cello, and flute.

Legacy
