Diplomatic Service
Early AssignmentsIn 1970, Cousseran embarked on his diplomatic career, joining the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Second Secretary. Initially assigned to the Ministry of Health and Social Security, he later served in the Department of Economics and Finance within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Overseas Missions
Cousseran held a series of positions in French embassies around the world, including First Secretary at the Embassy in Australia (1973-1975), First Secretary and Second Counselor at the Embassy in Algeria (1975-1979), Second Counselor at the Embassy in Madrid (1983-1984), and First Counselor at the Embassy in Madrid (1984-1987).
