Ian Brownlie: A Renowned International Legal Scholar
Early Life and EducationIan Brownlie, an esteemed international lawyer, was a member of the United Nations International Law Commission and a Queen's Counsel. Throughout his academic career, he held teaching positions at the University of Leeds, the University of Nottingham, and at Wadham and All Souls Colleges in Oxford.
Academic Career
From 1976 to 1980, Brownlie served as Professor of International Law at the London School of Economics. Subsequently, he became Professor of Public International Law at the University of Oxford from 1980 to 1999.

Brownlie's contributions to international law earned him recognition as a member of the British Academy, the International Law Association, and the Institute of International Law. In 2006, he received the prestigious Wolfgang Friedmann Memorial Award for International Law.
