Jan Carey is an American musician, DJ, music producer, and singer-songwriter. He was born in Binghamton, New York, and grew up in a musical family. His mother, Judy Carey, was an illustrator, while his father, Philip, was a designer of museum exhibitions and a member of the Grammy-winning choir, the Gregg Smith Singers.

Early Life and Musical Influences

Growing up, Jan was exposed to a wide range of music, primarily classical and jazz. His father's passion for classical music and his collaborations with renowned jazz musicians like Dave Brubeck and the Modern Jazz Quartet influenced Jan's musical taste.
