Early Life and Education

Born in 1888, Felix Dzerzhinsky graduated from the Vilnius Real School and later pursued studies at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute and the St. Petersburg Psychoneurological Institute, though he did not complete his degree.

Military Career and Involvement in the October Revolution

In 1915, Dzerzhinsky became a cadet at the Pavlov Military School, subsequently serving in the Grenadier Guards. He joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (Bolsheviks) in 1917 and played a significant role in revolutionary agitation among the troops.

During the October Revolution, Dzerzhinsky served as a member of the Petrograd Military Revolutionary Committee. On November 8, 1917, he was appointed Commissar of the Winter Palace, effectively supervising the capture of the seat of the Provisional Government.

Service in the Red Army and Bolshevik Government

Post-revolution, Dzerzhinsky held various key positions within the Red Army and Bolshevik government. He served as Chief Commissar of the Directorate of Military Educational Institutions, Commissar of the All-Russian General Staff, and Deputy People's Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR.

Role in the Far East

In 1920, Dzerzhinsky assumed the pseudonym Ignaty Yurin and played a significant role in the Soviet Far East as a member of the Far Eastern Bureau of the RCP(b) Central Committee, Military Minister, and Foreign Minister of the Far Eastern Republic. He established diplomatic relations with China and negotiated over the Chinese Eastern Railway issue.

Diplomatic and Intelligence Activities

In 1921, Dzerzhinsky represented the Far Eastern Republic in China. Later, he served as an authorized representative of the People's Commissariat of Workers' and Peasants' Inspection in the Southeast and a member of the Economic Council of the Southeast. Notably, he also represented the Executive Committee of the Communist International with the Bulgarian Communist Party.

Flight to Poland and Death

In November 1925, Dzerzhinsky fled to Poland, where he became an advisor to Marshal Józef Piłsudski. His death in 1925 occurred under suspicious circumstances, with allegations of poisoning by Soviet agents remaining unconfirmed.
