Early Life

Born into a Cossack family, Govorukhin joined the "Circle of Kubans and Donets" and other revolutionary student organizations at Petersburg University in 1886-87. He established connections with D. Blagoev's group.

Arrest and Involvement in Assassination Plot

On April 5, 1886, Govorukhin was arrested but released under police supervision on April 22. He participated in the preparation of an assassination attempt on Alexander III in March 1887 with A.I. Ulyanov and P.Y. Shevyrev's group.

Exile in Switzerland and Bulgaria

Evading police, Govorukhin emigrated to Switzerland in late February 1887. In Zurich, he co-founded the "Socialist Literary Fund." In Geneva, he assisted in printing for the group "Emancipation of Labor." In 1895, he relocated to Bulgaria.

Return to Moscow

Govorukhin returned to Moscow in 1925.
