Early Life and Education
Yurko Dyachyshyn was born in Ukraine and graduated from the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv Institute of Theatre, Cinema and Television (KNUTKT) in 1985. He specialized in cinematography and completed his diploma with a short film titled "Dragon," which was based on a story by Ray Bradbury.
Professional Career
Photography and FilmDyachyshyn's career spans photography, filmmaking, and teaching. From 1987 to 1991, he worked as a photographer for the Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kyiv. He established his own private photography studio in 1991, which became the first of its kind in Ukraine.
Advertising and Authorial Projects
Dyachyshyn collaborated with international advertising agencies for over 15 years as an independent photographer. However, in 2002, he shifted his focus to producing his own photo projects. He promotes both Ukrainian photography in Europe and international photography in Ukraine.
Gallery and Residencies
As part of his studio, Dyachyshyn opened the "Camera" gallery, exhibiting works by Ukrainian and international photographers. He has also been an "Artist in Residence" in Vienna, Austria (2006) and Arles, France (2010).
Artistic Style and Projects
Dyachyshyn's photography often explores themes related to family, relationships, and the human experience. Some of his ongoing projects include "Bread," "Close," "Family," and "Animals."
