Ilez Gardanov was a prominent figure within the Galgai Jamaat, a militant group operating in the North Caucasus region.

Militant Involvement and Terrorist Attacks

Gardanov played a significant role in the organization and execution of numerous terrorist attacks within Ingushetia. He was directly linked to the attack on the Karabuinak City Police Department on April 3, 2010, the planting of an explosive device at a market in Nazran on August 21, 2010, and the assassination attempt on the imam of the Ekazhevo mosque in August 2010.

Liquidation in a Special Operation

Gardanov's reign of terror came to an end on August 23, 2010, when he was killed in a special operation conducted by law enforcement officers on the outskirts of the Ingush village of Plievo. As officers attempted to apprehend Gardanov and his associates in a VAZ-21114 vehicle, the occupants opened fire. The law enforcement personnel responded with lethal force, killing all five occupants, including Gardanov, Ibrahim Guliev, Musa Chapaev, and Ruslan Kozdoev. Two police officers sustained injuries during the operation.
