Early Life

Ilya Gurevich, an American chess prodigy, attained the title of chess master at the tender age of 12 years and 3 months.

Scholastic Achievements

In 1983, Gurevich emerged victorious as the National Scholastic Elementary School Chess Champion in the United States. A year later, in 1984, he triumphed in the prestigious World Youth Chess Championship in Lomas de Zamora, Argentina, in the under-14 category.

Junior World Champion

Hailing from Worcester, Massachusetts, Gurevich ascended to the pinnacle of junior chess in 1990 when he claimed the World Junior Chess Championship title in Varones, Chile. This victory cemented his status as one of the most promising young chess players of his generation.

Post-Chess Career

After his remarkable success in chess, Gurevich transitioned to a career in finance, working as a trader on the stock exchange. He has since retired from international chess competition.
