Inaki Pena
Early Life and Youth Career
Iñaki Peña was born in Alicante, Valencia, Spain, and began his football journey at the age of five with local club Alicante in 2004. In 2012, at age 13, he joined FC Barcelona's renowned youth academy, La Masia, after a stint at Villarreal.
Club Career
FC BarcelonaIn the 2017/18 season, Peña played a pivotal role in Barcelona's UEFA Youth League triumph over Chelsea. On April 16, 2018, he signed a three-year contract extension with Barcelona, with an option for an additional two years. He was promoted to the reserve team and made his debut on October 6, 2018.
Peña's breakthrough with the first team came on October 30, 2018, when he was included in the squad for the Copa del Rey match against Cultural Leonesa. Although the team won 1-0, Peña did not see any playing time. He continued to feature on the bench throughout the season, providing cover for first-choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen during injuries.
In the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, Peña again appeared as a backup due to injury to reserve goalkeeper Neto.
International Career
Peña has represented Spain at various youth levels, including U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19, and U-21, accumulating over 30 caps. He was the starting goalkeeper in the 2016 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where Spain finished runners-up.
