Early Life and Career

Born on July 4, 1986, in Riga, Latvia, Inārs Kivlenieks began his luge career at the age of 17. In 2005, he joined the Latvian national team and made his World Cup debut.

Doubles Luge

Initially competing in doubles luge with Lauris Berzins, Kivlenieks and his partner participated in several World Cup events. In the 2005-06 season, they finished 26th overall. The following season, they improved their ranking to 25th.

Transition to Singles Luge

In 2007, Kivlenieks transitioned to singles luge. He achieved his best result of 20th in his first race in Winterberg, Germany.

Breakthrough Season

The 2008-09 season proved to be a breakthrough for Kivlenieks. He finished 14th at the World Cup opener in Igls, Austria, and nearly cracked the top 10 at his home track in Sigulda.

International Success

Kivlenieks placed 13th at the European Championships in Cesana, Italy, but had a disappointing performance at the World Championships in Oberhof, Germany. However, in 2013, he won a bronze medal in the relay event at the World Championships in Whistler, Canada.

Olympic Appearances

Kivlenieks represented Latvia at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, finishing 18th in the men's singles event. He participated again at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, placing 16th in men's singles.

Other Notable Results

Aside from his accomplishments, Kivlenieks has consistently finished in the top 25 of the World Cup standings. He also holds multiple podium finishes at the Latvian National Championships.
