Inger Støjberg: A Life in Politics

Inger Støjberg, a Danish politician, author, and journalist, has served as a prominent figure in Danish politics, holding various ministerial positions and playing a significant role within the Venstre party.

Early Life and Education

Born on March 16, 1973, in Central Jutland, Denmark, Støjberg's educational background includes graduating from Morsø Gymnasium in 1993. She pursued higher commercial qualifications for a year in Viborg in 1995 and studied economic communications at the same business school for another year in 1996. In 1999, she completed her education at the Information Academy.

Journalism and Communication

Prior to entering politics, Støjberg worked as a reporter for the newspaper Viborg Avis from 1999 to 2000. She went on to become an independent communications agent, while continuing her association with the newspaper until 2001. She obtained a Master of Business Administration in 2013.

Local and National Politics

Støjberg's political career began with her election to Viborg Municipality's city council in 1994, a position she held until 2002. Additionally, she served as director of Liberable Oplysnings Forbund (LOF) from 1996 to 1999.

In 2001, Støjberg was first elected to the Danish Parliament, where she became a member of the Venstre party's leadership in 2005. From 2005 to 2007, she chaired the parliamentary group in the Folketing and represented the West Jutland constituency from 2007 onwards. Støjberg also served as press secretary for Venstre from 2007 to 2009.

Ministerial Career

In April 2009, following the appointment of Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen to NATO, Støjberg became Minister of Employment and Minister for Gender Equality. When the ministries were reorganized in 2010, she remained in the role of Minister of Employment.

On November 28, 2016, Støjberg assumed the position of Minister for Immigration and Integration of Denmark.
