Early Life and Education
Ruslan Koshulinsky was born on September 9, 1969, in Lviv, Ukraine. In 1986, he graduated from the Lviv Specialized Boarding School for Sports and in 1991 from the Cooperative Technical School in Lviv.
Military Service
From 1987 to 1989, Koshulinsky served as a senior sergeant in the Soviet Army in Germany. He was a deputy platoon commander.
Career Path
After completing his military service, Koshulinsky worked as an engineer and cook in a gold mining artel in Russia's Krasnoyarsk Krai. In 1996, he joined the Ukrainian National Assembly - Ukrainian People's Self-Defense (UNASU-UPSD), later known as the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda."
From 2001 to 2002 and 2004 to 2006, Koshulinsky worked as an assistant-consultant to a member of the Ukrainian parliament. In 2006, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in law from the Ternopil State Economic University.
Political Rise
In August 2008, Koshulinsky became Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda." In November 2010, he was elected Chairman of the "Svoboda" faction in the Lviv City Council.
Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament
In the 2012 parliamentary elections, Koshulinsky led the "Svoboda" party's central electoral headquarters and was elected to the Ukrainian Parliament. From December 13, 2012, to November 27, 2014, he served as Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.
2019 Presidential Election
In February 2019, Koshulinsky was nominated as the presidential candidate of the united nationalist forces.
Scandals
In December 2015, Koshulinsky was involved in a physical altercation with an assistant to the Chairman of the Lviv Regional Council during a protest action.
Personal Life
Koshulinsky is married to Maria Vasilievna (born 1967). They have three children: daughters Kristina (born 1991) and Ivanna (born 1993), and son Bohdan (born 2002).
