Biography of Ingvild Flugstad Østberg
Ingvild Flugstad Østberg, born on November 9, 1990, in the town of Jevnaker, Norway, is a Norwegian cross-country skier. She is a two-time Olympic champion, world champion in team sprint in 2015, and has won numerous stages of the World Cup.
Family Background
Østberg comes from a family with a strong sporting tradition. Her grandmother, Valborg Østberg, won the second women's Birkebeinerrennet (a 54 km marathon) in 1977. Her mother, Marte Flugstad, also won the Birkebeinerrennet three times. Her father, Helge Østberg, and brother, Eivind Østberg, were also involved in competitive skiing.
Early Career
Østberg began her professional career in 2007, participating in the Scandinavian Cup.
