Early Life and Soviet Career

Svetlana Salnikova was born in the Soviet Union and began her volleyball career with the Minsk-based team "Kommunalnik". In 1987, she earned the title of Master of Sports of International Class. As a central blocker, she played an instrumental role in her team's success, winning two bronze (1986, 1987) and two silver (1990, 1991) medals in the Soviet Union Championships. She also helped them claim the Soviet Cup in 1990 and the European Cup Winners' Cup three times (1987, 1990, 1991).

International Success with the USSR

Salnikova joined the Soviet women's national team in 1985. During her time with the squad, she reached the pinnacle of volleyball, winning the World Championship in 1990. She also secured a bronze medal at the World Cup in 1985, a gold medal at the European Championship in 1985, and a silver medal at the European Championship in 1987. Salnikova also contributed to the team's victory at the Goodwill Games in 1986 and played at the World Championship in 1986.

International Career beyond the Soviet Union

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Salnikova represented Belarus from 1993 to 1996. In 1998, she switched her allegiance to France, where she played for the "Villebon" club and others. She briefly rejoined the French national team from 1998 to 1999.

Retirement and Coaching

Upon retiring from professional volleyball, Salnikova settled in France. She now resides there and works as a volleyball coach, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience with the next generation of athletes.
