Early Life and FamilyIrina Serova was born on May 7, 1957, in Riga, Latvia, to Agris Augškāps, a renowned actor and teacher, and Flora, his former student. Her younger sister, Tatiana, was born four years later. In search of new opportunities, the family relocated to Moscow, where Irina's mother pursued a career in fashion design.
Theater Career
Irina's passion for theater was ignited by her parents' involvement in the performing arts. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS) in Moscow. Upon graduation, she joined the Vladimir Mayakovsky Drama Theater, where her notable performances included "Notes from the Underground" and "Look Who's Come."
In 1986, Irina was invited by renowned director Mark Zakharov to join the legendary Lenkom Theater. She has remained with the company ever since, participating in numerous productions, including "Cruel Games," "Dear Pamela," and the acclaimed "Romulus the Great."
Cinematic Pursuits
Irina's film debut occurred in 1980 with roles in "The Detective" and "Sailors Have No Questions." She has also appeared in television series such as "Viola Tarakanova: In the World of Criminal Passions," "My Fair Nanny," and "Daddy's Daughters." In 2016, she portrayed a villager in the comedy film "Babonki."
Personal Life
Unlike her namesake, singer Alexander Serov, Irina's personal life has been remarkably private. She married fellow actor Sergei Vyacheslavovich Serov, with whom she has a son, Alexander, who has also pursued an acting career.
