Early Life and EducationIrina Shmeleva was born in the town of Kushva in the Sverdlovsk region. She spent her childhood here, completed her schooling, and worked as a cultural worker at the Kushva Palace of Culture from 1979 to 1980.
Acting Career
In 1984, Irina Shmeleva graduated from the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute and subsequently worked at the N.V. Gogol Moscow Theatre. She made her film debut while still a student, appearing in small roles in the social drama "Alesha" and the tragicomedy "Tears Were Falling" in 1982. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Lena Novikova in "Tears Were Falling", but her subsequent roles often showcased her as a daring seductress or adventurer.

Irina Shmeleva received the title of Honored Artist of Russia in 1995. Her notable performances include the role of Tsyana in the legendary comedy "Kin-Dza-Dza!" and the eccentric Ludochka in the comedy "Where is No-Flet?". She has also portrayed the legendary figure Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya in the war film "The Battle for Moscow" and the film "The Tragedy of the Century". Additionally, she played the character Carol in the drama "Time and the Conway Family".
Life in the United States
Irina Shmeleva decided to move to the United States for various reasons, including the lack of film opportunities and personal issues. She worked in public relations and as a programmer in a financial company. Despite her career change, she did not forget her passion for acting and performed in a small immigrant theater. In 2009, she made a comeback in the Russian series "Hour of the Wolves - 3" and later appeared in the fifth season of the same show as Christina.
