Early Life and Career
Irma Bune was born on January 4, 1911, in the Lithuanian town of Biržai to a peasant family. When her family returned to Latvia, her father received a land grant and became a farmer. After finishing school, she graduated from the Latvian Dramatic Courses in 1932.
Theatrical Debut
Bune began her theatrical career in 1932 at the North Latvian Theater. She went on to perform at the People's Theater (1933), the Theater in Ziemelblazma (1934), and the Peasant Dramatic Theater (1936-1937). From 1938 to 1940, she worked with the Latvian Dramatic Actor's Ensemble.
Post-War Career
After World War II, Bune joined the State Theater for Young Spectators of the Latvian SSR in 1944. She remained a prominent member of the theater for decades.
Recognition and Legacy
In 1956, Bune was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Latvian SSR. She passed away on May 21, 1995, and was laid to rest in Riga's Forest Cemetery.
