Early Life and Activism

Born in Bessarabia, Golger began his involvement in revolutionary movements at the tender age of 12.

Education and Career

In pursuit of historical knowledge, Golger pursued studies at the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris, graduating from its history department. Subsequently, in 1924, he relocated to Brazil. There, he held the position of research fellow at the Historical Institute of Minas Gerais province.

Political Engagement

Golger's political activism continued in Brazil. He became a member of the Brazilian Communist Party and served as president of the Jewish community in Belo Horizonte. During the late 1930s, he played a pivotal role in the anti-fascist movement, forming the Anti-Integralist Committee to combat the influence of Ação Brasileira Integralista.

Scholarly Contributions

Golger's intellectual pursuits extended beyond his political activities. He authored numerous monographs on diverse topics, including the economics of the Sumerian civilization, the evolution of Marxism, the history of Leninism, and the transatlantic slave trade in South America. His biography of Albert Einstein gained particular recognition.

Editorial Work

Under Golger's editorship, the first Portuguese-language edition of Karl Marx's complete works was published. He personally translated several of the volumes included in this comprehensive collection.
