Biography of Isak Musabaev
Isak Musabaev was born on November 22, 1910, in the village of Naukent, Fergana Region. He is an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, laureate of the State Prize of Uzbekistan in the name of Beruni for science, Honored Doctor of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and professor. He has been honored with numerous awards and orders, including the Order of Lenin, Order of the October Revolution, three Orders of the Red Banner of Labor, Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, and Order of Honor.
Musabaev graduated from the Fergana Medical College in 1930 and then from the Samarkand Medical Institute in 1935. He defended his candidate dissertation on the topic of "Hemotransfusion in typhoid-paratyphoid diseases" in 1942 and his doctoral dissertation on the topic of "Liver function in typhoid-paratyphoid diseases" in 1951. He became a professor in 1952.
During the Great Patriotic War, Musabaev served as an epidemiologist and chief of the sanitary service in the 92nd separate rifle brigade. He provided medical assistance to soldiers with infectious diseases such as typhoid, dysentery, and other intestinal infections. He was wounded during a bomb attack in December 1941. Musabaev's dedication and service were recognized, and he was demobilized in 1944 and sent to work at the Samarkand Medical Institute.
From 1944 to 1949, Musabaev worked as an associate professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases, and from 1949 to 1951, he served as the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Samarkand Medical Institute and the chief physician of the infectious clinical hospital in Samarkand. He later became the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases from 1951 to 1988 and deputy director for science at the Uzbek Research Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Infectious Diseases from 1962 to 1970. He has been a professor-consultant at the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Medical Studies since 1988.
Musabaev's main area of research is the clinical features and significance of biochemically active substances and biochemical components in combination with immunological processes in patients with intestinal infections. He has made significant contributions to the study and treatment of dysentery, cholera, typhoid-paratyphoid diseases, viral hepatitis, and diphtheria.
In addition to his research, Musabaev has published over 500 scientific works, including 34 monographs and textbooks, and has supervised the training of 17 doctors and 86 candidates of sciences. He has been recognized as a member of various scientific societies and has served in prestigious positions such as the chairman of the Republican Scientific Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists, and Infectious Disease Specialists.
