From Aspiring Pilot to Aviation Brigadier General
Yue Xicui's aviation career began in 1965 when she enrolled in flight school after graduating from high school. However, a sudden onset of rheumatic arthritis during her training put her dreams on hold. Despite her year-long hospitalization and doctors' advice to change her career path, Yue remained resolute in her determination to fly.
Rapid Career Progression
In 1978, Yue's perseverance paid off when she became a senior pilot. From that point forward, her career trajectory skyrocketed. Each passing year brought with it new ranks and responsibilities. Over the course of her 36 years of service, Yue undertook various assignments, including training flights, military exercises, rescue operations, and even inducing artificial rainfall.
Master of the Skies
Yue became a highly skilled pilot, mastering five different aircraft types, including military transport planes. Her exceptional flying abilities led to her accumulating an impressive 6,100 flight hours, covering over 2 million kilometers.
China's First Female Aviation Brigadier General
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Yue Xicui was promoted to Brigadier General of Aviation, a historic first for women in the People's Liberation Army Air Force. As Deputy Chief of Staff of the Guangzhou Military Region Air Force, she played a pivotal role in the organization and operations of the Air Force within her region.
