Biography of Yuri Astakhov
Yuri Astakhov was born on September 27, 1951, in Tbilisi. He graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute (Marhi) in 1977.
Architectural Career
After completing his studies, Yuri Astakhov became a member of the Union of Architects of Russia in 1985. From 1977 to 1989, he worked as a professor at the Department of Architectural Design at the Kuibyshev Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture (KuISI).
In 1988, Yuri Astakhov became the head of the 4th workshop of the "Sreda" (Environment) Center at the Kuibyshev Branch of the Union of Architects of the USSR.
Since 1995, he has been the director of the design and construction company "Rosproekt."
Achievements
Yuri Astakhov has received several prestigious awards and recognition for his architectural work. He was awarded the UNESCO "Settlement Ecology" competition in 1977 in Vancouver. In 1985, he received the Bronze Medal at the 3rd World Architecture Biennale for "Ecological Housing with Increased Social Activity" in Sofia.
He was also awarded the Silver Diploma at the International Architecture Festival for the "Autonomous Residential District in Tolyatti" in 2002, held in Moscow.
