Education and Early Career
Ivanovich graduated from the Polotsk Teacher's Seminary in 1911 and embarked on a career as a teacher.
Wartime Service and Political Involvement
During World War I and the Civil War, Ivanovich fought as a private and a commissar in a rifle regiment, respectively. In 1918, he joined the Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Administrative Roles in Education
From 1926, Ivanovich held leadership positions in the educational administration, including as the head of the Mozyr District Department of Public Education and, from 1928, as the head of the Minsk District Department of Public Education. He played an active role in the Belarusianization movement.
University Leadership and Party Cadre
In 1930, Ivanovich became the rector of the Gomel Agricultural and Pedagogical Institute. In December 1931, he was appointed rector of the Belarusian State University, a position he held until 1933. Later, he served as the secretary of the Shklov District Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus and as the deputy head of the State Planning Committee of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.
Arrest and Trial
On August 11, 1938, Ivanovich was arrested. His case was investigated by the military prosecutor's office and the NKVD of the Byelorussian SSR for nearly a year. On December 30, 1939, he was released on a recognizance not to leave the country.
World War II and Postwar Career
Ivanovich served as a commissar during the Great Patriotic War. After the war, he headed the Orsha Teacher's Institute. In 1953, he retired due to deteriorating eyesight.
