Biography of Ivan Havryliuk

Ivan Havryliuk is an actor and director, known for his contributions to Ukrainian cinema. He was born in 1949 in Ukraine. Havryliuk graduated from the film faculty of the I.K. Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television in 1970.

Early Career

Havryliuk began his acting career while still studying at the theatrical institute, appearing in films since 1967. His debut role was Ivan in Boris Ivchenko's drama "Annichka". After graduating from the institute, he landed his first major role in the historical drama "Bread and Salt".

Notable Works

One of Havryliuk's most notable works from the 1970s was his leading role in the religious drama "Redemption of Other People's Sins". He gained widespread popularity in the 1980s, starring in films such as the heroic adventure film "Gold Worth", the industrial dramas "Men Wanted" and "Warm Cold Land", the historical film "Daniel - Prince of Galicia", and the philosophical fable "Folktales About Ivan".

Later Career

In 1986, Havryliuk became the artistic director of the "Ukraine" film and video association. He was the first actor of independent Ukraine to be awarded the prestigious title of People's Artist of Ukraine. In recent years, he has worked at Larisa Rodnianska's "Contact" studio as an actor, screenwriter, and director. He has created two lyrical documentary films, "Kolomyia City" and "Carpathians. Mountains and Valleys" (together with Timur Zaloiev).

Current Endeavors

In 2002, after a long hiatus, Havryliuk returned to television, starring in the series "Critical Condition". His portrayal of the city mayor in the series was hailed as a new beginning for the actor, showcasing his incredible psychological depth. Havryliuk is currently a member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) representing the "Our Ukraine" faction.
