Early Life and Footballing Career

Borys Krasnetsky was a Soviet and Ukrainian footballer and coach born in the village of Berkovtsy, Ukraine. He began his football career playing in regional championships before being invited to join Spartak Ivano-Frankivsk in 1964 by coach A.I. Shchanov. Playing as a goalkeeper, Krasnetsky was a member of the UССР team that competed in the "Hope" all-Union tournaments, winning the USSR championship in 1964 and earning a silver medal in 1965.

Military Service and Playing Interlude

In 1965, Krasnetsky was drafted into the army, where he played for the Lviv SKA in the Class "B" league from 1966 to 1967 under the guidance of renowned coach Sergei Shaposhnikov. While in the army, he played alongside the likes of Sekech, Plakhetko, and Varga. After returning to Ivano-Frankivsk in 1968, Krasnetsky played four seasons for Spartak, helping them win the Ukrainian Class "B" championship in 1969 and earning call-ups to the UССР team. He concluded his playing career at the amateur club Budivelnyk Kalush, where he played as a striker.

Coaching Career

Krasnetsky's coaching career began in his hometown of Berkovtsy, where he trained the local collective team that won the regional "Kolos" championship. After working as a director and coach at the Solotvino Children's and Youth Sports School (DYuSSh), he was appointed director and coach of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Sports School for Football (DYuSShOR) in 1976.

Higher Education and Professional Coaching

After graduating from the Institute of Physical Culture, Krasnetsky worked as director and coach at DYuSShOR, now known as SDYuShOR Spartak-Prykarpattia, from 1976 to 1984. He trained notable players such as Volosianenko, Rypan, the Rusak brothers, Moskvin, and Husak. In 1987, after studying in Moscow, he became assistant coach of Prykarpattia, then competing in the Second League of the Soviet Union. He then spent two years as head coach of Zakarpattia in Uzhhorod, leading the team to promotion to the Second League buffer zone.

Prykarpattia and National Team Involvement

In 1990, Krasnetsky took over as head coach of Prykarpattia. He made his debut in the Ukrainian Premier League in 1992 but stepped down after ten games, handing the reins to Yuriy-Iosyf Shulyatytsky. Prykarpattia was relegated to the First League at the end of the season. From 1991 to 1993, Krasnetsky served on the coaching council of the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) and assisted in organizing friendly matches between the national teams of the United States and Ukraine.

Later Coaching Positions

Krasnetsky continued to coach in lower divisions with Beskyd-TIM Nadvirna, Krystal Chortkiv, Lymnytsya Perehinsk, and Veres Rivne. He spent two years in the United States on a guest visa, coaching youth teams in Maplewood, New Jersey, and the All-American Summer Soccer Camp. Upon his return to Ukraine, he took charge of FC Kalush.

Higher League Return with SC Mykolaiv

On December 25, 1998, Krasnetsky was appointed head coach of SC Mykolaiv, a struggling Premier League club. He replaced Leonid Nikolaenko, who had been serving as interim coach after Anatoliy Konkov left due to financial reasons. Krasnetsky led the team through the winter training period and one game of the second round.

Post-Mykolaiv Career
