Early Life and Military Education

Lt. Gen. Ivan Pavlovich Staviskiy was born in 1873. He began his military career by graduating from the 1st Cadet Corps and the Nikolayevsky Engineering School in 1895.

Russo-Japanese War

Staviskiy served in the 4th Railway Battalion before graduating from the Nikolayevsky Engineering Academy in 1902. During the Russo-Japanese War, he worked under General Velichko and played a role in constructing the Laoyan fortifications. By the war's end, he had reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served as the Corps Engineer of the 4th Siberian Corps.

World War I

During World War I, Staviskiy served as a Colonel and Chief Engineer of the 11th Army under General Selivanov during the siege of Przemysl (1914-1915). In 1916, he became the Chief Engineer of the 8th Army under General Brusilov. His role in preparing for the Brusilov Offensive earned him the rank of Major General.

Russian Civil War and White Army

Staviskiy joined the White Army in late 1918 and held various administrative positions, including Deputy Director of the Military Engineering Department. In August 1920, he was appointed Chief of Supply for the army by General Wrangel.

Bulgarian Representation

After the White Army's evacuation from Crimea, Staviskiy became General Wrangel's representative in Bulgaria in December 1920. However, due to financial constraints, the representation closed in 1925.

Later Years and Death

Staviskiy moved to France, where he worked as an engineer. He also lectured on "Engineering Defense of States" at General N. N. Golovin's Higher Military Science Courses in Paris. Staviskiy passed away in 1966 and was buried in the Russian cemetery of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois.
