Early Life and Education

Iveta Radičová was born and raised in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. She embarked on her academic journey at the Comenius University in Bratislava, where she studied philosophy. Radičová's professional life began in the Slovak Academy of Sciences, where she worked as a sociologist. She subsequently held teaching positions in sociology and political science at her alma mater.

Political Activism and Early Career

Radičová's political involvement commenced in the early 1990s. She joined the Public Against Violence movement, and in 2006, she became a member of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union – Democratic Party. In 2005, she accepted an invitation to serve as Minister of Labour in the government of Mikuláš Dzurinda.

Presidential and Prime Ministerial Campaigns

In 2009, Radičová ran for president, obtaining 38.05% of votes in the first round and 44.47% in the runoff. She emerged as the prime ministerial candidate for the 2010 elections. Upon the incumbent Prime Minister Robert Fico's refusal to form a government, Radičová was appointed to the position on July 8, 2010.

Premiership

Radičová's government included representatives from various political parties, including the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union – Democratic Party, Freedom and Solidarity, Christian Democratic Movement, and the Bridge, a party representing the Hungarian minority. Her tenure as Prime Minister lasted until April 4, 2012.

Family Life

Radičová was married to actor Stano Radič until his passing in 2005. They had one daughter together.
