Ivo Minář: Czech Professional Tennis Player
Ivo Minář (born May 21, 1984, Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional tennis player. He reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 62 on July 20, 2009, and is currently ranked No. 193.
Early Career and Breakthrough
Minář turned professional in 2002 and is coached by Dušan Karol. He won the European Junior Championships in Klosters in 2000 at the age of 16, defeating compatriot Tomáš Berdych.
ATP Career
Minář has not won any ATP singles titles during his professional career, but he reached the final of the 2005 Sydney International tournament, where he lost to Lleyton Hewitt. Later that year, he qualified for the Dubai Tennis Championships and faced World No. 1 Roger Federer in the first round, losing to him.
Doping Suspension
On July 11, 2009, Minář tested positive for methylhexanamine and was subsequently suspended for eight months. He claimed that he had taken the banned substance as part of a nutritional supplement. His suspension ended on March 10, 2010.
