Jack Coleman: Early Life and Education
Jack Coleman was born on February 21, 1958, in Easton, Pennsylvania. He is the sixth great-grandson of Benjamin Franklin. Coleman attended Solebury School and Duke University, where he decided to pursue acting as a career. After graduating from college in 1980, he enrolled at the National Theater Institute.
Acting Career
Coleman's first major role was in four episodes of the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" in 1981. In 1983, he joined the cast of "Dynasty," where he played the role of Steven Carrington, the youngest son of the Carrington family, for five years until his departure in 1988.
Coleman appeared in various guest roles on television shows throughout his career. In 2004, he had a recurring role as the comatose patient Peter Rickman on "General Hospital." In 2006, he was cast in the lead role of Noah Bennet in "Heroes." In 2011, he appeared in "The Vampire Diaries" as Billy Forbes, Caroline's father. In 2012, he played Senator William Bracken, who was connected to the murder of Kate Beckett's mother, in season 5 of "Castle." In 2013, Shonda Rhimes cast Coleman in season 3 of her show "Scandal."
Personal Life
Coleman married actress Beth Toussaint in 1996, and their daughter, Tess, was born in 1999.
