Jack Truman: A Brave Teenager Fighting Against Cancer
Jack Truman, a 15-year-old terminally ill teenager, refused to give up on his last wish. Despite his life-threatening condition, he was determined to take his girlfriend's hand and attend their school prom together. With tears in his eyes, Jack received applause from his classmates as he arrived at the prom in the last minute. Over 200 teachers and students from West Calder High School in West Lothian, Scotland, witnessed Jack leading his 14-year-old friend, Hannah Boyd, to the celebration. Jack and Hannah had been close friends for two years.

August 2014 marked a turning point in Jack's life when he was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma. He was put on a waiting list for additional medical assistance until scans revealed that the cancer had spread throughout his body. As the prom date approached, circumstances seemed to work against Jack and Hannah. The young boy's uncertain health condition made it possible for him not to survive until the official prom date.

Gathering all his courage and determination, Jack was ready ten minutes before the start of the prom. His last wish had come true; Jack was still alive. He promised to dedicate his remaining time to raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Fund. Thanks to the generous donations from hundreds of people worldwide, Jack managed to raise over £33,000 in less than a week. His mother, Alison, expressed her gratitude, stating, "It's a phenomenal amount for my phenomenal boy. It makes it a little easier to do something like this when you know it can help other people."

Jack hopes to raise enough money to establish a charitable team called "Team Jak," which will provide additional support to young people battling cancer. Furthermore, his name will be chanted by thousands of football fans during the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup, as a tribute to his passion for the sport. Despite being a fan of the Rangers, Jack desperately wanted to attend the match himself. However, his family, concerned about his health, decided that such an adventure would be too dangerous.

Sharing the latest news with his friends, Jack wrote, "Well, it's happened...the worst of the possible outcomes. I've prepared myself for this answer all day, and yet it's still so hard to do it." His doctors and professors examined the results of his PET scan, revealing that the disease had spread to his bones and organs. They decided not to pursue any further treatment. Although Jack did not mention how much time he had left, he expressed his apologies for sharing such terrible news in this way. He thanked all the doctors, nurses, and everyone who had supported him in the past six months.
