Yakob Ingebrigtsen: A Star in the Making
Early Life and CareerYakob Ingebrigtsen, a Norwegian middle-distance runner, began his illustrious career at a young age. In 2016, at just 16, he won the junior individual race at the European Cross Country Championships. In 2017, he became the youngest athlete to run a mile under 4 minutes (3:58:07).
Rising Star
In 2018, Ingebrigtsen achieved further success. He won two medals at the World Junior Championships in Tampere: silver in the 1500m and bronze in the 5000m. He also became the youngest athlete to win the 1500m at the European Championships, setting a new European junior record in the 5000m.
Olympic Glory
Ingebrigtsen continued to excel in 2021. He won gold in the 1500m at the European Indoor Championships in Toruń and set an Olympic record at the Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first European runner since 1992 to win gold in the event.
