James France: American Businessman and Billionaire
James France is a renowned American businessman, billionaire, and executive. He is currently the vice chairman of the board and executive vice president of the popular company NASCAR, as well as the CEO (president) of the International Speedway Corporation (ISC). His personal wealth is estimated to be around 1.5 billion dollars, according to Forbes, a globally recognized economic publication that has named James France as one of the richest and most influential individuals on the planet. Currently, the billionaire resides with his wife and three children in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Early Life and Career
James France was born in 1944 to William France, the famous founder of the legendary Daytona Speedway track and the immensely popular National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). From a young age, James and his brother Bill were captivated by the world of car racing. It is no surprise that when they reached adulthood, both decided to dedicate their lives to competitive races, racing cars, speed, and everything related to auto racing.
For instance, James France began working in his father's company at the age of fourteen in 1959. Over time, the company expanded, and today it owns eleven race tracks that host various racing events over a hundred times annually.
Leadership and Succession
In 1972, James' younger brother took over as the head of the company (who later passed the reins to his own son, Brian, in 2003). In 1992, the brothers fully inherited their father's company after his passing, becoming the rightful owners of such a large and valuable enterprise.
Today, their involvement in running the company is based on mutual agreement. For example, James served as the president of ISC in 1987 and temporarily assumed the role of NASCAR's CEO in 2000. In 1999, France also founded the Grand American Road Racing Association, which has become one of the most renowned associations not only in North America but also worldwide.
The brothers have a great rapport with each other and rarely experience any discomfort in their communication or joint management of the company.
